Last night was first light for my new camera and focus motor. Seeing was pretty bad, at least I hope it was because I was having a lot of trouble seeing anything clearly. Trying to find focus was a lost cause, the whole image was shimmering. Anyway, I managed to drag a couple of images out of the session, There's a bit of colour difference between both, I haven't spent too much time on them as I don't think they're much more than test shots. Nice to get a moon transit though...

Your focus was probably spot on, on Friday night. I too was out there trying to get a decent shot and the seeing was horrible. Focussing was really difficult and what you've got is the best I would expect under those conditions. I stayed out in the cold until after midnight hoping conditions would change but they actually got worse as high cloud started to move in. Very disappointing, after the Skippy Sky forecast was looking so promising earlier in the day. I was expecting much better results. :(

Your moon transit though, is nice to see and well done for giving it a go. The experience will help you for when you try again another night. It really is lucky imaging!

Great capture of the transit despite the seeing. Don't worry when the conditions are right you'll be able to get some serious images with the Mak.
