Found this one while recovering some Hard drive data.....the view from my
old office window was hard to beat.

It blows my mind that you can do that with exposures fast enough not to blur. How do you manage that?

Awesome shot Peter. So how does this go? You tell your co-pilot to take over while you image? Or you do it quickly when nobody's watching? ;)

Stick in one hand, camera in the other?

I was using a Sony A7s....which are great as their firmware does not have the dreaded "star eating" firmware seen in later models.

The metadata says it was 1.6 seconds. F1.7 ISO3200.

I used a "clip-on" camera bracket. With no turbulence at 450 tonnes the aircraft is remarkably stable. ;)

The autoflight system is well and truly engaged at that point...but yes!

I would always ask the other pilot to keep an eye on things when I took some happy snaps...it's even in QF's SOPs. Someone is monitoring at all times!

It's wonderful image, love it!

I wonder - was this image taken looking forward in the direction of travel?

It's a pity they don't let people go up and check out the cockpit on flights anymore. I would love to have that view uninterrupted.
