ASTRONOMY OPEN NIGHT

28 APRIL 2007
VENUE:
Building E7B, Main University Campus
Enter by Herring Road or Balaclava Road
Parking available (Directions at gates)

TIME:
Between 6.00 pm and 10.00 pm

TELESCOPES:
About 20 telescopes in operation
See the Moon, Planets, Stars, Nebulae and Clusters

LECTURE:
Naomi McClure-Griffiths, Australia Telescope National Facility

An illustrated lecture entitled

"Tales of Hydrogen in the Milky Way"
Starting at 7.45 pm - Venue under cover

DISPLAYS:
Displays of telescopes, books, maps, and posters
Videos, software and other material on sale

ENTRANCE:
$10 Adult $5 Child $25 Family
Proceeds for Astronomical Observatory and Planetarium at Macquarie University

THIS EVENING WILL NOT BE CANCELLED BECAUSE OF WEATHER

I usually try and go with a scope and with kids...It is a very "Newbie" and "Family Friendly" affair...including sausage sizzle!

While the site (a parking lot) and view are not very "dark sky" it has always been a good time with lots of opportunity for outreach into the wider community...

I'll try and get along.. although brownie points may be an issue - I think I have an appointment with the NAS the night before!
