Optolong is also releasing a new filter in July which is quite similar. 7nm Ha and OIII, I’m eyeing it off at the moment!

I have my eyes on the Antlia 3.5nm filters.
Waiting on them to make a 31mm version.
They only do 1.25" mounted, 36mm or 2 inch mounted.

I agree, that sort of price for a filter is heavy duty from my perspective.

Anyone dealt with this vendor? I asked them a question a while back and never got an answer. A bit wary of any online-only presence that doesn’t respond to online inquiries...

I went and did some window shopping to compare prices for these filters.

Remember these are 3.0 or 3.5nm filters so they are the best in terms of bandwidth specifications.

Prices from US Dealers and in $ US, so exchange rate, freight and GST must be added.

Only comparing 1.25" mounted filters, Ha, OIII and SII are usually the same price

Astrodon 3nm Ha US $ 564.00 ea ( Astrodon have the best reputation for filters - no halos, par-focal etc )

Chroma 3nm Ha US $ 490.00 ea ( Chroma used to manufacture filters for Astrodon also excellent quality )

Baader 3.5nm Ha US $ 297.00 ea ( Made in Europe, had halo issues with some filters in the past )

Antlia 3.5nm Ha US $ 209.00 ea ( Made in China, new kid on the block, unknown reputation )

So that statement by Antlia is correct when comparing to what else is available in that category.

Anyway price should never be a barrier in our hobby, we pay for what gets the job done.

People pay $10K for a mount that gives 0.4 arcsec guiding over a $3K mount that does 0.7 arcsec guiding.

The same goes for telescopes and astro-cameras, people will pay the price that is required to get the best quality in their images.

Astro-photography is a money pit we know but cheaper compared to other hobbies like racing cars, yachting or flying and owning light aircraft.
