Just a Moon slither

Not actually imaging tonight,

I set up to show wifey the moon
Waiting for the big 2 (Jupiter and Saturn) to pop there heads up in the east so I can show wifey them as well

But seeing as my T2 ring for the MkIII turned up yesterday I grabbed just a single frame whilst there

So that makes this first light for this combo

A very good image..but bang out a few and start learning stacking.
I loved my time doing Moon shots...there is just so much and each night there is something different...keep them coming I love seeing Moon shots. When I get my next scope which will have a long fl I plan doing it all again..great effort make sure you print it up..some small ones so you can hand them out to check out girls at the super market.

Another great shot Mark! There's something about lunar shots I can't explain it but I feel like everyone should have at least one in their astro album. Also you only need long focal length for high resolution planetary/lunar imaging. It's a bit like wildlife photography. Take a bird for example. No doubt it's amazing to zoom in and pick up all those intricate feather details, but it's equally amazing to capture the silhouette of the flock as they fly across the sunset. Thus with the two gas giants being so close together at the moment, I think it presents us with some interesting wide field opportunities. Here's a quick example from a planetarium app that can be used as a planning guide. It'll even help you frame up your image if you key in your equipment details.

I don't contribute much these days, but I thought this image was relevant to LostInSp_ce's point about images not having to be high res. This is sort of
medium res, but is one of my favourite moon shots. EP projection with
8" f/5 Newt single image straight from camera.
