This may be a bit early, but Dave Kriege of Obsession Telescopes and possibly 20 other Yanks will descend upon Coonabarabran about 8 October, 2007. I was along with Dave and about 14 other Yanks in April of 2005 and we can't wait to get back. We're looking forward to hooking up with John Bambury, Tony Buckley, Andy Murrell, Lachlan McDonald as well as Gary Kopf and Mai Tran from Wildcard Innovations. We'll also be meeting up with John Bambury and some other internet friends. I'm almost as excited as when we came in 2005.

I remember when you came out last time, what an exciting experience.

Gary and Mai are from Wildcard Innovations (http://www.wildcard-innovations.com.au) though ;)

I believe John, Andrew and others are at Coona this weekend as well, with their 3RF scopes. Lucky buggers. Our new moon meet got rained out last night down here.

Would love to meet you one day Don, but don't know if I can make it to October this year. My starparty quota will be used up after BSG2007 in August.

Good grief. I can't believe I had the name wrong. Thanks. Unlike last time when I was pretty much tied to a group, my wife and I will be traveling seperately after the week in Coona. We intend to get a good look at Sydney and surrounds for a week. Maybe we could hook up then.

By the way, what is a 3RF scope?

I think the 3RF's are Obsessions (18 - 25"), bought by the 3 Rivers Foundation who has donated them to a few aussies - John, Andrew, Tony & Lachlan included.

Would definitely be keen to meet up if you make it to Sydney!

Can anyone tell me more about this 3 Rivers Foundation? I've heard some vague rumors from Dave, but he won't be specific.

I don't know enough details to answer accurately. I'll see if John or Rod or someone who knows more wants to chip in.

Here's a link to the 3 Rivers foundation's (http://www.3rf.org/)website.

It should give you the info you need, Don.

Thanks, that helps a bit, at least for the US connection. The Oz connection is still a bit umm.......nebulous, but hey, if they are going to provide some big scopes for us to use in Coona, I don't need to know it all.
