Today, I observed one large Sunspot, which can also be easily seen when looking at The Sun Now image in yellow light

Each winter, the Sun is nicely positioned for me to do solar projection from my carport. It’s a nice way to start the morning; by feeling like I have done some astronomy and get some healthy Vitamin D.

Anybody else still do solar projection or am I the last of a bygone age?

I have solar projection setup that hasn't been used much recently. Thanks for the prompting. I got a brief glimpse before it clouded over.

Have you tried a "Sun funnel"? Easier to use than a piece of card etc.
Just pop it in your drawtube and focus.

Just google it or I made one from https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/make-sun-funnel

:)

That's an amazing idea. Currently, I just project onto the ceiling of my carport with a low magnification EP.

There is still just the one Sunspot today.

Mine is a mirror to aim and a very long focal length lens (about 30m) which projects a 300mm image on the back wall of the shed.

Yep I made a sun funnel and observed the transits of Venus a few years back with a 60mm scope I found on the side of the road. The projection material from a projection screen worked a treat ( designed to be watched from either side) but I would not risk a high quality eye piece. The cheap one melted a little.
