Hampered by high cloud.....
Managed to get some CaK which shows the AR 2764 and Sunspot pretty well.
Used the Genesis 4" f5, Baader Cool Herschel Wedge, Continuum filter with the ASI 1600 first light White light images.....

H alpha and proms to follow.
Enjoy!

AR 2765 is proving interesting in H alpha.
Using a tunable H alpha filter it's possible to image the AR in various wavelengths.
If you tune well off into the extended Blue wing you end up in the Hydrogen Continuum. This gives "similar" views to a White Light filter. It shows some smaller spots leading the main spot....(Compare this to the white light image)

Coming back into the Blue wing you start to see the plage and activity in the AR, on band (H alpha wavelength) shows the usual views and moving further into the Red wing starts to give better contrast with the fibrils and filaments in and around the AR.

Not much in the way of proms today - a couple of small plumes....
Enjoy!!

Excellent images once again thanks for posting.
Guess I should take a look myself and set up the Ha scope. Long night with Jupiter last night, this morning has meant a late start to the day.

Great captures Ken. Something is finally happening again!

Thanks guys!
The current (limited) activity if nothing else allows you to get some practical experience with the solar gear.
Getting good results from H alpha, CaK and White light filters only comes with practise - and I need more....

fantastic catches there. the new ar will be good

Thanks David!
Yes, the sunspots provide the opportunity to get some real solar imaging - with White Light filters as well as the Ha and CaK.

Alas I am too lazy to pull thescopes off the mount to setup solar, maybe when it gets a little more active. Oh and work does interfere with daytime activities at the moment ;)

Exelant images Ken.
Looking forward to getting back to
Solar observing and possibly
Imaging, once USPS get's its finger out
and delivers my "Priority Paid" gear I ordered nearly 7 weeks ago.
Latest communication,Still in Transit,and on it's way to me.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
Cheers:thumbsup:

Thanks, Ron.
I keep thinking of the many members who have already invested in expensive solar gear and haven't (mainly due in part to the low solar activity) had/ taken the opportunity to use it.
The time has come......
