Observing red stars

Hi all,
I have always enjoyed looking for coloured stars when observing visually, and at present I am gathering together a list of red stars to enjoy throughout the year. Does anyone know of a good online resource for this info, especially for the southern hemisphere - I'm sure it has probably already been done before!

I think I have about a dozen of these ticked off in my logs. So, a long way to go - I will need to be a lot more methodical to do justice to this list

An AS&T article “Red Stars in Orion” back in Feb/Mar 2016 got me interested. It listed 6 carbon star targets within Orion.

Apologies for what's probably a stupid question: how would one locate these stars using something like SkySafari, apart from entering RA/Dec?

OICURMT, thanks for this, looks like I might need to stock up on toner cartridges as well! It would be good to be able to filter it down to stars brighter than say 9th magnitude or so for modest sized scopes.

Hi Patrick,
I had to think about this question.

I found entering the catalog ID (eg CGCS853) into Stellarium would show the objects location physically plus give the Alt/Az location for the specified time.

Hope this is what you meant.

Thanks Allan, precisely what I meant - Stellarium has the CGCS catalogue, but SkySafari appears not to.
