View Full Version here: : M16 Eagle Nebula
Hi everyone :thumbsup::thumbsup:
Here is my attempt at the Eagle Nebula
I’m slowly getting my head around narrowband imaging (i think):lol:
The processing side of things has been very challenging  but its also soooooo much fun, oh the joys Having an observatory and being able to image during a full Moon woooohoooo :D:D
Cheers

Well, that's some solid work there Jen, great looking colour palette too  although it appears a bit light and washed out a bit on my monitor but otherwise very nicely processed.
Have you calibrated your screen? Recently I have become aware that some people are likely viewing and or processing astroimages on rather dark high contrast screens, this means that if they process an image using such a screen, this will mean they could look very bright and washed out on a properly calibrated screen..does that make sense?
I think THIS (https://pbase.com/strongmanmike2002/image/55347254/original) is a good tool to use to calibrate your monitor for viewing and processing astro images. Not doing either in a bright room is a good idea as well
Again, well done and you are clearly making great headway into this crazy pastime of astroimaging :camera: now that you have that Taj Mahal observatory :D

Top shot Jen! :eyepop: And it's got the purple rain color scheme. win-win. One for your cool wall.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Thanks Mike
i have been trying to calibrate my screen on the laptop but i cant seem to find the contrast buttons etc on the thing grrrr i have two other screens set up and everyone of them gives a different look so i do struggle with trying to get my pics right :rolleyes::screwy:
Thanks for the tip i will try and have another go at getting all three screens right
Hehehe thanks Marc ;) damn it i tried really hard to make this one not look purple :lol:
Very nice Jen! You are definately getting the hang of it.
I agree with Mike, it could be a bit less bright overall, although the processing in general looks to be very good. :)
I use a Data Colour Spyder to keep my monitors calibrated. Seems to work OK. A new one is quite expensive now, so Mike's trick should work well.
I doubt your laptop has contrast, a lot do not, and some stand alone monitors, cheaper ones, can sometimes not have it as well.

Looking good. That's a very good narrowband image. You're off to a flying start.

Looking good Jen!
I love the artistic edging of the wide-field shot: it gives it a bit of a wow factor that is missing in some more conventional straight edge images.
I am not at all jealous of your observatory and dark sky... not. ;)
Keep up the good work, and good luck with the computer screens!
