Was trying to sort out some collimation woes but failed dismally! Wasn’t expecting much with the short integration time, lots of light pollution and moonlight bit managed to process a cropped image. I learnt a heck of a lot about LRGB processing in PixInsight, which isn’t my usual MO. Lots to improve on I expect but it did give me some confidence in pursuing LRGB imaging from the burbs of Brisvegas.

A lovely image. Bright galaxy beats bright lights. Beautiful star colours.

Imaging brighter objects from the city seem a sensible pursuit! Thanks for the nice comment :-)
Would love more definition which I assume is just more time. Nothing but clouds lately sadly.

I was happy to get something out of the process, even if it was all rather flawed. I was having nightmares with vignetting and image calibration/correction (very much cropped out of this image however) and was thinking the only solution were bigger filters and lots of $... but managed to make it all work with a bit more understanding of a few PI processes :-) Now I can put some $ into the Quattro mechanics: stronger springs and a new focuser perhaps.

Yeah its always something with this pursuit. Getting one setup ideal and getting it stable is not a trivial exercise.
I notice there seems to be a faint bluish halo around most of the stars. Blue filtered images usually have the largest stars. You may be able to contain that by using a bit of deconvolution on the blue channel to shrink the blue filtered stars to match the red and green better.

Thanks for the tip. I hadn't thought to use deconvolution is this way. Will give it a go :-)
