Anyone got any good locations to shoot for someone relatively new to this. I shot NGC 5139 Omega Centauri last night and was quite happy with that.

Is there anything near NGC 5139 Omega Centauri or Acrux early on in the night? :thanx:

I assume you are taling about targets rather than a location to shoot from?

Download Stellarium to your PC, it's free... cruise around on that & see what's around in the skies you can see from your location...

Best way to find out what's about...

I’ll second what Carlton recommended, download Stellarium !!!
Stellarium is your road map to the universe 365 nights a year
I downloaded it and got to know how to use it months before I bought my first telescope ( a 10” dob ) 4 years ago, by the time I bought my dob I could star hop around the sky and find objects without to much frustration, and it can be frustrating if your pushing and nudging a manual dob around as a beginner
Stellarium taught me so much about the movement of celestial objects and when and where they appear in the night sky month after month
A valuable Astro tool in your toolbox
Cheers
Martin
