View Full Version here: : Venus
2 views of our neighbouring world 4 days apart. The crescent is thinning. It will go full circle in less than 3 weeks (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=175774)

Seeing about 5/10 both days. Low altitude of about 24° didn't help either

Thanks Mirko,
It really shows how quickly Venus appears to be growing as it becomes closer.

This phase is my favourite time for observing Venus. The best views are during the day when Venus is near the meridian and high in the northern sky. About 70X magnification is ideal to show off the fine crescent.
The crescent appears sharp and sparkles like a jewel against the clear blue sky. There is none of the bloated “over exposure” appearance when observing a bright Venus against a dark sky background.
The increasing angular size is easy to see over successive observations.
Wait until it gets within 2° of the Sun. That's when the magic will happen. I agree though, it's a magnificent sight at medium power already.
