Hi All,

Apart from here and ice in space and ebay are there any other Australian sites for secondhand telescope gear?

Thanks :)

It hasn't been going for long - but seems to be gaining momentum.

Thanks for all your replies. I have a 12 inch Bintel DOB but am thinking i want a SCT (12 inch, motor drive) as 'things' keep whizzing past my eyepiece...

Hey Zuts,
Why not buy an eq6 mount and some rings for the 12" and do like Iceman has done. Would be a heck of a lot cheaper. Just a thought from someone new.
Cheers,

Thanks Duncan. There is an eq6 mount for sale in the forums. I am trying to work out

(1) Does it have GOTO
(2) If it takes a 12 inch DOB, how high of the ground would the eyepiece be. Its a Bintel Dob so horizon to azimuth would be what to what?
(3) How do you set it up. Meade, Celestron is easy just point at two stars and away you go.

Anyway, sometime its hard to get all the right info, but that eq6 does look nice.

Hi Zuts,

Mate to tell you the truth i'm not up to scratch on all of this, however you would do well to talk to iceman about it. I know he has set one up just like this. Give him a PM to find out about it as it could save you thousands.Hope you get the answers you need and let me know how you get on.

Cheers,
Duncan:thumbsup:

zuts i can't give you the height that a 12" dob would be off the ground but i can tell you yes it has goto, and it's very easy to get going. I've owned a Celestron goto unit as well and it's no harder.

You just point it south, run an alignment process to point it to a couple of stars, and then you are up and running for visua goto use.

Google the eq6, you'll find tons.

Good luck on selling your scope. It looked very nice and was a bargain but in the end i decided for veiwing, a 12 inch dob was just a bit too big. Thanks everyone for all your help.
