Was I the only one again that heard channel 7 news say there is a comet shooting past tonight - 29th April ???

Yep, apparently around 7:56pm, possibly near venus. I read this earlier today on the ninemsn site.

its a pity we wont be able to see it with the Heavy Rain - wonder if the Hubble telescope is able to capture it ?? or does the Hubble telescope not exist any.
I start googling now for it !

I wonder if the news is about 1998 OR2 which is an asteroid predicted to fly past Earth 4 million miles away--about 16 times farther than the Moon, according to Spaceweather?
It is currently (8:13pm) at an Altitude of 84 degrees in Hydra, at Mag 10.9 as I track it in The Sky X Pro.
