Hi All,

While setting up the scope just now, I noticed a satlitl like object moving through my fov in the finder in Orions belt. It flared as it moved up towards the zeneth.

What was it??

I saw it and called my wife and we both watched as it flared and twinked out.

Regards

There was an Iridium flare at 2042 sydney time, to the north east.

Given the time was about 15mins before this post, around 9:40pm, I have looked into the star charts and found a likely candidate. The Cosmos 1867 satellite.

I was surprised to see a least 4 of these moving objects on my first evening out with my new AOE 20x80's. Just a round sunset, all too faint for the naked eye but clear in the binos. Guess there must be a lot of stuff up there.
