I'm actually not a huge fan of this target, not sure why I picked it. I was looking for something to image around full moon (i.e. NB) and this popped up on my radar so here it is... probably should've gone for the running chicken instead, but that ship has sailed!

Anyway, here's my latest effort in the continued struggle to not suck at the imaging of nebulae. Constructive feedback welcome. Just over 18hrs total of H and O data, some of it under good seeing, some of it terrible.

Superb image, Lee! You and Andy are taking wonderful images. This one is up there with the very best images on this site over the past year. Congrats.
Cheers,
Richard

18 hours that must be one of your longest eh?

Great colours and terrific framing. I think it turned out superbly.

Greg.

Whoa, thanks Richard, that's very nice of you to say :D

Thanks Marc!

Thanks Greg :D

18hrs is long only by comparison to my typical nebula image... mostly because until recently I only imaged nebulae when the moon was too full for galaxy imaging. I routinely go ~20hrs with galaxies these days. My two longest integrations are over 30hrs (Thor's helmet and Grus triplet).

Amusingly I recently put 25hrs of luminance (technically my deepest image to date, I've never put that much luminance into a target before) into a galaxy that I'm probably going to abandon. NGC 3923 is tough; think I'll leave her to Rolf lol.

It's come up really well Lee
I do like the composition too!

Awesome!

We can see that next year we'll have to add a tiny bit of the field of view far to the left, where you've captured a touch of OIII.

Not sure why you're not a fan. It's an amazing image. So much detail.

Thanks Colin :-)

Thanks M&T! Yeah, there's definitely a fair bit of OIII in the area... reasonably faint though, as is often the case. Could definitely do with expanding the field out to the left if one had a bigger FOV or be inclined to do a mosaic.

Thanks Kevin, glad you like it :-) The more I look at it, the more I think it's overcooked and I see too many artifacts. I think I should reprocess it at some point... sick of looking at it for now though lol.

Thanks very much Chris :-)
