Okay okay, I know, I shot this a bit over a week ago and did it again. I couldn’t help myself!!
It was clear in Melbourne during the full moon and I wanted to have another go at Eta Carina after the first attempt didn’t center correctly. What I learned is that I shouldn’t be tell it to point at NGC 3372 because that isn’t the keyhole. So my last Mewlon attempt in this region posted exactly where I told it to, not where I wanted though!
So, this is largely a Keyhole to Mystic Mountain shot. Cherry picked the 92 frames with FWHM lower than 2” so I’m pretty happy with the final FWHM stack :)
I promise this is my last Eta Carina for the foreseeable future!

Thanks Marc :)
Still doesn’t quite reach the same level of detail you’ve managed from your 16” ;)

Wow Colin!
Top work, that's so sharp - give it some more data to smooth it out and you've got yourself a bonza image there. :D

It’s so different comparing 0.4”/pixel against 1.67”/pixel
I do have some more data, I about 2.5x that I didn’t use as I heavily culled frames. I am interested to see how much sharpness difference there is between using all frames as opposed to only the 1.6-2” ones.
Thanks :)
I’ve pushed the vibrancy as far as I dare

Still a great result.
The Alluna is an exceptional instrument which I was lucky to acquire when I did. The $A plumbing new depths against the €, makes the new price tag rather eye watering...I doubt I could afford one now.

The HH jets from Mystic Mountain came out magnificently.

Nicely done Colin, I like the vibrant colours. It certainly pays to select the best Subs to get a crisp shot.

A very vibrant image Colin. Super sharp.
I took a similar image the other night as well under some good seeing. I hope I can get a similar level of sharpness.
Greg.

Hi Colin,
that's an amazing image as it's got such high resolution.
Under 2" from Melbourne is a rare event.
How about using all the extra frames you took and
stacking them but just turn the blend mode to colour
in Photoshop when you combine them with this image?
That would get rid of the colour noise.
cheers
Allan
