Just a friendly reminder for members in NSW, VIC, SA and Tasmania that Daylight Savings ends this weekend, Sunday 5th April at 3.00am ( clocks go back 1 hour )
Some Astronomy software programs and devices do require manual adjustments for daylight savings
Looking at various posts in forums over the years , it has caught some people out , me included !!

Good news at last. Almost makes me want to move to QLD or NT.

February 2nd Leon.
If you see your laptop’s shadow it'll go into hibernation and you get six more weeks with no hassles.

:D

Sorry, I can't miss this one...

"savings" is a poor Americanism, and even they get it right sometimes :P The term is "Daylight Saving Time" even there.

Meanwhile, here in Australia, it is Australian Eastern Daylight Time, etc., without any "savings" even mentioned.

I figured that's because Australians were inherently smarter  and knew the difference between something that is truly saved and something that is merely shifted in time...

No offence intended to OP or otherwise :)

Another thing we should take the opportunity to get rid of - "daylight savings". Such a stupid concept to mess around with the clocks. :)

Chris,
I totally understand not having DLS in QLD but in the southern states most people would agree it’s a blessing in the summer months providing more time to pursue leisure and social activities before and after work
Although I must admit DLS in the southern states reduces your astronomical pursuits ( short nights )
Cheers
