I took this a while ago.

Processing took a while.

CFF 105mm F6 APO, AP1600, FLI Proline 16803. HaLRGB image. I was thinking I would add some data but its looking a bit unlikely at the moment.

A ripper of a LMC image which many will use as a gold standard from here on in.

Well done :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks Geoff. Yes widefield has been fun lately although I wouldn't mind imaging a few more galaxies if I could put a few days together.

Wow, high praise - thank you!

Cheers Marc,
You must be getting close to your first light also.

Thanks Marc. The optics are definitely sharp. I also manually focused this one and have an electronic focuser ready to be installed for next time. But like with all good optics, when its in focus it stands out. It also doesn't seem to shift focus that much with temperature shifts on my limited use of it so far.

I was suprised how much sky you got in an 105mm -I was expecting a lens of some description.

Very nice Greg! You’re showing the extent of the Ha very well

Thanks Graham. The sensor is 34mm square so that's why it has such a widefield.

Thanks Colin. I finally got a couple of clear nights. They have been quite rare lately.

Thanks Tim. The weather has been cloudy or raining for quite some time so its been hard to get any imaging time.

Thanks very much indeed.

I do like imaging widefield with a large sensor. There are not that many targets for that but enough to make it worthwhile.

Keep coming back to this image again and again. It’s so rich with wonderful colour and detail and the scale of it is just jaw dropping.

Thanks Ben. I was very happy with the new CFF refractor and flattener giving round stars to the corners of the big chip.

I've since installed an electronic focuser which works on my modern laptop but does not like my Windows 7 observatory computer!

Luckily as with most good optics, accurate focus was easy to see manually and the feathertouch focuser is a delight to use.
