We take for granted that our astronomy retailers will be there if we need something, but in the present environment they are surely suffering. Please show support for the entire retailer population and maybe buy some astro gear to play with while you are isolated or keeping your distance.;)

It seems that some have already raised their prices on stock they already have in line with the plummeting of the Aussie Dollar

Ouch yes I have noticed that too, one in stock camera jumping in price by $200 over night. I realise retailers may be padding sales margins to reduce impact of general downturn, but we are all in this together. I hope it is not a widespread practice, as always, shop around. I just checked a couple of other retailers and found a spread of $300 on the camera example above.

The cam I was trying to convince myself about has gone up by $1000 in a week and $1500 over the last two months, looking at the exchange rate history I can only see about a $900 rise.

Puts it out of the question for me, looks like the ASI294 will be in service for a while yet, as much as I would like to support retailers.

I think a lot of retailers sell equipment at raised prices to make max profit (understandable ) but at a raised price that are way to much. they might have stock of 10 or 20 say imaging cameras and may only sell 2 maybe 3 a month
where if they worked on profit by volume sales by dropping the price to a reasonable level that everyone can afford they will be selling 20 a week so there profits will double in no time tired this experiment in my job i have and it works very well ,
but yes i agree we do need to support our local astro shops but they have to play the game too
cheers Pete
