Carina in color

I have now collected the colour and luminance data for this image.

Combining all the data was interesting. I used Marco's method of overlaying the Ha, OIII and SII and assigning them to various colours and saturation. I think this works ok. I went for the more traditional natural colour than exploring the Hubble palette. I have done that to death on several images before of this object and never really liked the effect.

A few small tweaks on this system and it is going to work well I think. Very happy with the performance so far on this AG12. Another test image is being undertaken tonight of a dusty area.

Striking picture Paul. There is a real 3 dimensional look about it. Just seems to pop out of the page

Very, very nice image. I collected some subs last night. Only 72 out of 100 as my meridian flip failed. Going to do a quick stack & process today before I collect some calibration frames.

An inspiring image Paul. I particularly like the treatment of the faint material with sharp-edged dust lanes towards bottom right. Needle-sharp everywhere.

Looks great Paul! All of the added narrowband data really helps with the contrast and depth. It can be difficult to blend in all three channels and still end up with an accurate nebula colour but you've managed to achieve it :thumbsup:

Not much sharpening on this data Mike. The mirror is razor sharp. I am trying to capture another area at the moment but have had a few other equipment failures which have halted the collection of data.



The SII was the most difficult to control properly, though I think I could do a bit more to get it really right.
