Started my computer today after noting last night that Microsoft updates were coming through. Lo and behold, a window opens introducing Microsoft Edge, a browser presumably optimised for Windows 10, and I was obliged to enter the customizing routine before I could click out and resume normal duties on my usual browser.
I'm not happy (please don't ask which dwarf I am then) and when I tried to uninstall it the uninstall button was not active - ie can't be uninstalled. Thanks. If I want new apps I'll seek them out and I don't like the idea of having them imposed on me under the guise of system "updates".
OK, vent over, nothing to see here folks, move along! No unsolicited replies from Apple users please, I've heard it all before! ;) :P
Cheers -

Hi Rob,
Do you like Chrome Browser? If so, you may not mind what Edge has become.
Edge has all the underlying features of Google Chrome with out some of the nasty Google "we want to know everything about you".
It is built using the nuts and bolts of Google Chrome, as I understand it.

I did not install it,it is on my computer but I am not using it.
I just removed it from my task bar.
I am still using Google chrome.

I refused to have anything to do with the original edge, basically I thought it was crap. However the latest version I find to be excellent, it pains me to say it, but microsoft seem to have this one pretty well spot on. Obviously it is a complete rebuild based on Chrome, but I really cannot fault it at present and have been using it for a couple of weeks now. I had been using firefox and still do for a lot of stuff, but I am finding Edge does everything that Firefox does and more.

the only thing edge was good for was watching netflix 4k; not sure if chrome and other browsers are compatible now or not.

Russell, I actually agree it was bloody useless, now, I have been using it for a couple of weeks and the new version is as different as night is to day. Never really thought Microsh1te would get a browser working, and in this case I believe they have, but had to use another browsers code to do it. Quite ironic I reckon.

Peter, this isn't the first time MS have done such.
They did similar during the days of MSIE2 or 3.

Certainly don't remember these, but no big deal. I was mucking around with Commodore Amigas in the mid 90's so that would explain why.:D
