These were shot last weekend from my backyard with an old 50-200mm Sigma APO lens on a modded Canon 550d. Carina Nebula, 10 X 1 min 1600 iso f8, Lambda Centauri Nebula region, 25 X 1 min 1600 iso f8. Both at 200mm, slightly cropped.
Just a bit of fun with the Nano Tracker between clouds to while away a few hours before bedtime. :)
You just keep pumping them out dont you Mike!
Really like how natural the starfields look in these mate....excellent work as always.
Using this basic gear you always get great results.

Nice to have something easy to set up Mick. I've got a couple of camera lenses in the mail to add some variety.
Must admit I really like those diffraction spikes as well.....good seeing something different from the standard 4

Nicely done Mick, a DSLR with a decent lens is a temping option.

Thanks Jon, I was pleased with my processing on these, they do look like how I saw them with the naked eye ( apart from the extra colour and detail ). I do post quite often, mainly to show what can be done with basic gear, because that's all I have. With you it's quality not quantity! :)
It is nice Tony to be able to carry the Nano Tracker on the tripod outside with one hand and the camera with lens in the other. Plonk it on the ground, level it, sight Octans through the attached guide scope so the cross hairs appear in the correct position, mount the camera, focus, point it at the target and turn on the tracker - away I go!
Yeah, I like them, some don't, they're due to stopping down to a larger f number to reduce lens aberrations and improve star shape at the edges. This means I have to up the iso but it's worth it - just take more subs if you want to compensate for the increased noise.
Thanks for the compliment. No option for me Tony, that's all I have to use ( at this stage ). :violin:

I was wondering what caused that. I like them, something a bit different.
