G'day all,

My recent problems with my Meade LX200 classic has spurred me to stock up on a few spares as I intend to keep this telescope for many years to come (or rather, don't forsee funds to replace it for years to come!).

I'm interested in spare parts, in particular the hand controller, as this is not available as part of the standard service kits.

I remember seeing many available on ebay years ago, prices around $50 - $80. I'm happy to discuss all offers.

Roger.

What model is it Roger? Is it a 495, 497 or Autostar II?
I've seen 495's going for around the US$125 mark on eBay, and 497's for about US$200 plus. Autostar II's I've not seen sold there.

It's not the autostar - that's too new and only applicable to the GPS and newer models.

To be honest I don't know anything about 495 vs 497. I just know it's a hand controller for the classic LX200. I think they called them the Magellan's ? .. I will find out the software version that it shows upon startup when I am next able. Perhaps that's an indication.

I now know I can buy a new one through Bintel (Meade get them made in batches as required) for about AU$390. So for second hand I'd be looking at about half that max.
