Only had 2 nights of partially clear weather in the last month or so, so grabbed what I could of SH2-308. Ended up being 4 hours (41x180s Ha, 42x180s OIII) through the f4 Newt. Had the best star shapes I've had in a while with a tiny bit of adjustment of the coma corrector distance to the camera chip. A bit noisy but figure I have to live with that for now. Excellent resolution and detail, despite the little noise that does not imact that much the beauty of the image

Thanks Marco. There’s so much detail in the OIII. Seems like I need a heap more Ha to really bring that layer out though.

That's a pretty nice image for the integration length Ben. The colour is very nice. Detail sharp too. Well done. Further integration will only make it look better.

Thanks Paul and yes, if and when the sky clears, I’m heading back for more :-)

Very impressive for only 4 hours as this one is very faint.
A little bit blue in the background though.

Greg.

I was struggling with that extra blue (at the bottom of the image right?). I think the Ha image was especially weak here (or the OIII was strong) but I couldn’t find an easy way to nullify it. I guess just a bit of a big blurry range mask should do the trick?

Okay, here is an attempt to get rid of some of that background blue. Emphasized the Ha red in the process I think. Tried not to clip the background..?

Thanks Jon. Well, I think I'm getting closer to something but I think that something is a lot more data! :-)

Getting this picture with only 4 hours exposure is really impressive. Nicely done

This was what I got early on with just 48minutes of OIII 3nm.

Yeah that's nice now. You've got a bit of the nice Ha pink going as well.

Hard to improve on this now without megahours.

Greg.

Many thanks for the nice comments and advice. I’m hoping that after the mega rain comes mega clear skies to really log some hours :-)
