Massive smoke plume still to the south of us. The Namadgi fires could continue burning for up to 6 weeks. We got enough rain yesterday to make the lawn wet for 2 minutes before evaporating.
The DC-10 fire bombers x 2 are going pretty much 12 hours a day, in turns (one lands to refill/refuel whilst the other does a sortie).
The new flightpath approved for the DC-10's means a split-arse left turn off RWY 35 at 500ft, taking them almost over Parliament House. Shame they couldn't bomb them with retardant, but alas, they are retarded enough.

I've been wondering how long it takes them to reload/refuel and how many sortie a day they do. I saw a video of one of the big jets bombing on the far south coast and it was operating out of Richmond, which seems a long hike to and from the fire. However, I think that was when things were a bit hairy at Canberra airport.
