Heads up for tomorrow night guys! The ISS has a favourable pass over SE Australia particularly Newcastle, Sydney Wollongong.

For Oberon the pass starts at 20:08, reaches 10deg alt at 20:10, max. alt at 20:13 and enters shadow at 20:16. Max alt for Oberon is 51 deg and only 431 kms away (as a rocket powered crow would fly) - even closer for Newcastle!

Here's a similar ground track from Orbitron. It better represents the visibility footprint of the ISS.

Thanks Al - I'll keep an eye out for it in Brisbane, weather permitting.

Cheers

Wow! Just saw the ISS from Bondi - first time for me ever. It was SO bright ... was it -6 or someething?! Caught me by surprise ... was looking from my blacony low in the NE but it sailed nearly overhead, about 70 deg. altitude. It faded into shadow at about 20 deg. in the ESE. Fantastic!

Great Site from Ashfield. Kids were a bit indifferent, but I was impressed.
Very cool!

It was a good view from here as well. I'll post a few quick photos in the solar system forum.
