Hi all
Finally decided on first scope purchase. i am now the proud owner of an 8 inch skywatcher dob. decided on this after much umming and ahhing and good advice from your members - thanks! i thought it would be too small in aperture, but i can see six stars in the trapezium and am really happy. Just thought i would share my joy with you all!
Happy stargazing!

You'll have many great nights with it! Keep asking questions and I look forward to hearing your first light reports!

My scope is an 8 also. I took several months to decide on the actual scope and am quite happy with the aperture. I did not find out about IIS until several months after my purchase, but I am still quite happy with it. I was thinking of a 10 but as it turns out the 10 would not have fitted in the boot! The tube fits nicely in the back with an inch or two to spare, otherwise I would have had to buy a new car as well!
Now if this cloud would just lift, you can actually start to get some good observing in...

Great choice of scope. If you never purchase another in your life you will not run out of objects to find and observe.
Keep looking up :)
