My field of view is a bit small for this one. So this may be the first panel of a mosaic. Seeing was mostly bad so I was pleasantly surprised that some detail emerged of the dusty bits (which is what I was after).

Ha only - about 6 hours worth from suburban Adelaide on a ridiculously warm night or two. Captured with a GSO RC8 (reduced to f6) and ZWO 1600MM-C on a Mach1. The halos on the bright stars are courtesy of the ZWO Ha filter

Full res available on Astrobin here (https://www.astrobin.com/d0cs4x/)-and if you're interested there's an appalling attempt at colourising it with some RGB data as the next image in my library. I guess I need some luminance data to get a better balance? (I used the Ha as luminance).

Great work Paul, in less than ideal conditions  The Rosette looks good in Ha only. I do see a little decon/wavelettes artefacts in a few bright areas but overall looks excellent :)

One little thing, "dust" is not visible in H-alpha data...only excited Hydrogen ;)

Thanks Mike. Re dust I meant the dark bits i.e. where the hydrogen is less excited or even mildy bored :)

A very beautiful image. Beautiful framing and processing.

Trish: A feeling of lace curtains there.
