We miss out on the annular eclipse today, 26 Dec 2019, but FWIW a partial solar eclipse will be visible from the northern half of Australia late this afternoon. Darwin will be best-placed, monsoon clouds allowing!

Greatest eclipse at 05:17:36 UT - work out your local times. Hope everyone had a great Christmas Day, bring on the cricket!

Hi Rob,

Im here up in Darwin and loved hearing that we may get a chance to this this phenomenon.
Thankfully many years ago i brought 2 pairs of eclipse viewing glasses from this site, so managed to get a great view.
Im a super rookie when it came to try and get a photo but I managed to get a fair few.
very unusual to be able to see the sun this time of year as the monsoon has usually set in, but not a cloud in the sky yesterday...

Also I am wondering if any of you know where I can purchase some pretty good quality viewing glasses, mine are a tad old with a few scratches.

Im going to link a few of my shots on google photos so hopefully it'll work.

I Just used my phone through the viewing glasses, Ha!

Please let me know if these dont work.

Hey, glad you got to see it Joshua and thanks for linking the photos! Nice work by very simple means!

Most astronomy retailers (eg Andrews Communications) sell them and most have online ordering. Look for Eclipse Glasses/Shades. They're very cheap - chuck your old ones if they've got scratches, no good risking your eyesight!
