describes research that is helping describe why the Sun's corona is
hotter than its surface and why as magnetic waves leave the interior,
they grow in strength.

Although a different phenomenon is at play, the earths upper atmosphere at several hundred kilometers, can reach well over 2000 deg. C during the day.
However not measured with ordinary thermometer.
