View Full Version here: : Lost pic
Hoping someone can help me locate an amazing pic I saw a while back, but can't seem to find now.
It was of the Earth and the Moon ... shot from some amazing distance looking back from one of the other probes out somewhere in the solar system.
It could have been Galileo, Cassini or New Horizons???? One of these, or some other mission.
But the shot is an amazing one.
I'm sure it was on this site, but could have been another.
A link would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Only had to search for "Cassini" and "Earth", and here it is:

Yep, and that's exactly what I did, Mike, and that's not the pic I'm after:P
The one I'm looking for is in colour, and shows a little more detail than that one.
The one I'm after shows a slightly larger Earth, which is blue, with a hint of white cloud featured.

Phew! That tested my memory -
The earth/moon was an APOD, with the image from the Mars Global Surveyor:

The other two images must have come from MGS archives, I think. Too hard to find now...
There is a similar image at ESA, from the Mars Express. The link is:

Hope this is OK. I downloaded the pics quite a while ago.

There is something so magical about these images.
They are just amazing.
As a planetary imager, I sometimes imagine what it might be like to turn my scope and camera on Earth if I was living on a nearby planet like Mars.
These pics touch on that nerve:thumbsup:
Thanks again, Rob

Found the other two, Matt:

The wide shot (PIA04530) is awesome - two 'tiny' planets lost in the blackness of space...

Fantastic images of the Earth and the Moon.
I can see why you wanted to get a copy Matt.
Cheers
