Using a reducer with a Takahashi 130NFB

Hi all.
I would like to hear from a member who has the above scope and who uses a TOA-35 (0.7) reducer for imaging. There is very little information on the net about using this product. (I tried some dealers but was disappointed with the response.)

A 44mm corrected circle is enough for a full frame sensor.

You are right to want it verified though as in my experience reducers rarely correct the stars well enough in the corners of a full frame sensor.

I have both the 6x7 flattner and the TOA-35 reducer. It is my understanding that the TOA-35 is really only suitable up to APSC - it was originally designed for 35mm film which is a touch more forgiving. I don't however have the right adapters to test it with my big chip camera.


You really want to consider one of the wide field astrographs if you want to go much shorter than the standard 1000mm focal length IMHO.


The 6x7 flattner works very well.
