Hi everyone,

Working on my 1100D's cooling and I managed to bust a small socket on the main PCB

I'm looking for a 1100D for spare parts... on the budget, so cheap as possible. No lens needed. I'll use only the main PCB.

PM if you have one, and how much would you sell it for.

Thanks,

Mick

Is repair of the socket possible? Perhaps bypass the socket with direct wired connection, that is of course if it's not a ribbon type connector, that would be very difficult. Perhaps you could post a pic and get some suggestions.

Good luck

Tnx JA,

I design electronics, PCB with SMD components, building proto etc.
No, this one is not replaceable... I did tried to re-align the pins and jam the clip back under the microscope. Nope... not going to happen. And the flat flex pcb ribbon is not solderable.

Sorry to hear the bad news. There are a couple of 1100D mainboards and ribbon cables on eBay here...

Cheers JA,

My way of thinking is if I get lucky and find a cheep pcb replacement then I'll risk to buy it... there is no guaranty it will work, other fault(s) possible elsewhere.

But if I have to spend hundreds $$$ (I don't have right now...job security issues)then I better of buying a 2nd hand OSC ...like the QHY8(s) I missed out on lately.

I can’t help you source the board Mick. I just thought I’d offer my sympathy as I’ve also just killed a perfectly good 350d during a cooling project. Best of luck finding what you need and best of luck with the cooling project.

Cheers

Oh, thanks Ryan ... we should feel sorry for ourselves.
In my case actually amazing how much abuse the camera took over the years. Survived the filter surgery, slide in a copper foil and jammed it with mika (spell?) And pushed a peltier cooler recycled from an old Meade CCD. It worked,
But the copper foil is too thin got loose. So I replaced it with a 0.35mm sheet. Oops... brocke one connector. Bugger :mad2:

Good luck with yours
Mick

Hi Mick

I have a dead 1100D. I don't know what killed it as I received it that way.

If you pay pay postage, I'll send it. If the board works, I'll ask $50, which is what (I think) I foolishly paid for the whole thing.

Grand ideas of doing something for cooling, but, wanted a dead body to open up first.

Let me know if you are interested.
