View Full Version here: : CR2 to FITS Colour Loss

Hi All,
I am using ASIair and Canon 550D For imaging. I notice that when the ASIair converts the camera CR2 files to FITS and these files are loaded into DSS or APP much of the colour is lost. If I load the CR2 files directly into DSS from the camera the colour stays (but APP still looses colour - as it converts to FITS?). Can anyone in the forum tell me if I am doing anything wrong or offer a solution?

Many thanks.

Chris

Not too familiar with the ASIair but you may need to debayer the fits file when you stack your images. this can be done by selecting the correct bayer matrix for your camera. In DSS you can choose the canon camera model.

Not sure if this helps but, I had some issues with fits files when using my ZWO camera...

Essentially, if I set 8 bit fits, my data was monochrome & had hatch marks all over it (bayer matrix pattern) but, 16 bit fits was colour; maybe ASIAIR is converting them to 8 bit fits files; perhaps check settings to see if it gives you a choice, might be related perhaps?

Asiair will save images in fits format only and will need debayering to see colour
use rggb debayering in DSS RAW and fits settings
