Freed trade less duty?

From a site that calculates duty and taxes etc.
If this site is correct then all we pay is GST
Not one hundred percent convinced
I added no freight as this item is free postage

While chasing up importing a sewing machine from China I was told by a broker that the sewing machine is duty free, I will only pay GST. He also mentioned that we have a free trade deal with China but I don't know if these two things are connected.

What about custom fees or excise?

There will be customs fees, plus assorted other charges for anyone who handles it along the way!:( Such as paperwork charges for the airline and agents who move it, actual shipping fees and more. I lost count after the broker got to three charges:rolleyes:.


It's still going to be at least $1,000 cheaper than buying it here.
