Yesterday another Saturn paper was published in Icarus. The lead author, Ricardo Hueso Alonso distributed a link to all authors which should allow free access to the paper for 50 days.
It is a great honour to be included as a co-author of this paper and it is so humbling to see my Broken Hill Observatory listed right there under the NASA Goddard Space Flight Centre.
Many amateurs are now producing data of a high standard which is useful to professional researchers. Ricardo Hueso Alonso and Agustin Sanchez-Lavega and their team are leading the way in recognizing the worth of amateur data to professional research, particularly with regard to Planetary Science.
However Agustin & Ricardo have gone further than most insofar not only do they use amateur data but they also give credit and due recognition within their papers to the amateurs.
These researchers openly encourage the amateur community to strive for excellence with the continued advancement of the quality of data they produce and I applaud them both.
