Hey guys, 3rd image for me this year :lol: slowly finding more time....

Feedback would be awesome as this one was a bit tricky to process...found it difficult to tease out a nice colour. Still would like a bit more blue, but it doesn't want to happen!

Also first time adding ha data to a galaxy, i think it really boosted those pinks.

TOA-150, and STT-8300M

All 1x1 bin
16 hours L (15 minute subs)
3 hours each in RGB (15 minute subs)
4 hours HA (20 minute subs)

Nice one Erik,
I probably would have done some contrast adjustments
in the brighter areas using a blurred layer mask in Photoshop.
I have a feeling you can get more out of your data on this one.

Overall a very decent image of this big baby Erik, nice work :thumbsup: Some more fiddling with contrast and Ha blending could improve it, but a fine result none the less.

This is a good field to see a full res of too, lots of faint fuzzies all over the place :thumbsup:

Nice one, Erik! I'd like to photograph this one myself, but it's one of few galaxies that are too big for my FOV and I don't really want to do a mosaic.

I'm guessing the lack of blue is related to the blending of the Ha data. How did you go about mixing the Ha in? Not sure I can offer much advice there, since I've only done it a couple of times, but I'm sure others with more experience can chime in on that.

Very fine.

You can get much more contrast without losing any information just by tweaking the zero points as attached.

Thanks Allan, have had a rework of the whole thing. I don't use PS but manage to get a better result in Pixinsight i think.

Thanks Mike, blending the Ha introduced a lot of noise which was difficult to tackle, but I'm pleased wit this version. So many cool little galaxies in the background!

Thanks :) I wouldn't know where to start with a mosaic! I used PixelMath in Pixinsight, and a tutorial from Harrys Astroshed. worked really well, actually surprised me!

That's looking better Erik,
yes - PI does seem to do a better job than PS in processing
but I don't think it has a blurred layer mask function
to select only certain areas for adjustments?
I can have a go on your 2nd image & post a result if you want?

Hi Erik,
I made an adjustment using curves to give more contrast
on the brighter parts of the galaxy.
Is it better?
