Here's my effort - only 8x5 minutes between building and trees and just above the power lines - right on the limit of how far north I can get from my backyard, but a lot of fun to give it try :)

Hoping to get another 40 minutes tonight but it's going to be warm so I'm not sure how the camera will behave. I'm happy just to get a half decent image of such a spectacular object though.

Well it didn't take you long :), the data looks good from the first session Tony.
40 to 50 mins was all I could manage at a time also.

Thanks guys. I doubled it to 80 minutes last night, giving a modest improvement to the galaxy and reduction in noise. Being so low on the horizon doesn't help to get detail but it's not bad at a glance.
Ambient temperature was around 20 degrees so I'm happy with the camera.
For the third act I might try the L-Enhance filter to show up the star forming regions.

Not sure about using the L-Enhance for Galaxies, you would be better off using the L-Pro

I'll just give it a try and see what happens Nik :)
The L-Pro is similar to the IDAS D2 and other broadband filters and probably is best for smaller galaxies from the 'burbs.
I tried the L-Enhance on the SMC and it worked well and I'm guessing it might be interesting to try on M31 and M33: with their large apparent size there might be enough visible star forming regions to make an interesting image - or not :)
