About 7 hrs L and 1 each of RGB captured in the southern Flinders Ranges last weekend.

Any processing tips welcome - there's quite a lot of IFN here, but not enough data to bring it out without noise. But it leads to a noisy background in parts.

At the upper left is a faint galaxy, which I believe from a search in Simbad is LEDA 166073 (http://simbad.u-strasbg.fr/simbad/sim-id?Ident=%408261961&Name=LEDA%20%20166073&submit=submit).

Higher res available on Astrobin here (https://www.astrobin.com/ha3806).

Yes this is a tough object to tackle without a lot of data, when I did this I had nearly 17 hours and it just started to look pretty flat in the background around 15 hours. It might have to be a multi year target for you, so you can get the hours on it. The detail you have looks great and colour a little muted but nice.

Thanks Paul. I'll book it in for next year :)

Incredible detail.

Worth the effort of going for more data on this one.

Greg.

That's very special.

Is the faint milky stuff IFN, or is it a giant tidal tail from the very obviously disrupted 1313 ?

Yeah this is a crazy but cool looking galaxy Paul. Your sharpening/smoothing mix is a little noticeable but a fine effort, that like others have said, some extra exposure should fix

Thanks Mike n Trish. Aah. Yes. You're probably right. Still - a PITA either way :)

Thanks Mike. I'll keep on adding to it over time. Will be next year as no immediate dark sky trips planned and that one wouldn't work too well from the 'burbs! :)

This image is a tribute to how far you have come with your processing over the years. I really like this and I think it is presented very well.

Great job, Paul!

Thanks. Your comments mean a lot. I still remember that time you sat down with me years ago and showed me how to use PixInsight for the first time. Your generous guidance and support is much appreciated.
