Hi Nick,

Continuing/Starting/transferring this thread from the deep space area to here.

Good attempt with the moon pics.
Here are your pics processed in photoshop.

As you can see in the originals it is hard to get even exposure. Parts get overexposed if you try to get all the detail in the dim parts.
Lesson #1 - Try shorter exposures. Take a range of exposures.

"Softness" in the image may be due to focusing or seeing - your focus looks good.
Lesson #2 - Take many exposures with the same "best" exposure then choose the sharpest image.

Lesson#3 - Take all images in RAW format. Process these with the Canon software which is very good and save the images in *.TIFF format (8 or 16 bit)

My processing was quite simple:

Reduced the brightness and contrast and tried sharpening using "Unsharp mask" and "Sharpen more". Notice they sharpened reasonably well which shows most of the softening was due to seeing and not bad focusing.

Thanks Jerry,

really appreciate your comments and you taking the time to process the images and offer advice.

am going to try using a 25mm eyepiece next weekend rather than the 10mm to get more even exposure across the whole image.

work really interfers in a good hobby doesn't it!?!?!?!

cheers

Nick
