Yugant,

Have you noticed the "Please contact us with your enquiries" link on the webpage? It leads to a contact form.

MyAstroShop is undergoing a change of management! The new manager of MyAstroShop is...

<drum roll please...> brrrrrrrr

ME! :D

In the transfer of ownership, the website has been put on hold and sales paused for a short time as stock is transferred down to Sydney. Some email addresses have also been changed. The old phone number may not get through though either. If you have had difficulties contacting MyAstroShop I do apologize, and try this email address:

alex@myastroshop.com.au

The website will be up and running again next week. It will have the same appearance, but this will change shortly too.

Cheers,

Alex Massey.

Very, very, VERY distant relation. Maybe, it is sooo distant.

Thank you Mike, Col, Jeremy, Carlton and Yugant!

This is a very exciting change for me. I bring a unique insight into this from my niche in astro, so visual aficionados of astro can expect some special attention. And I will be following some new leads to provide some more diversity in what MyAstroShop can provide.

Alex.

The OLD website, yes, fantastic. The newer one Steve brought in earlier this year, NOT so much, (actually pretty terrible), but there is a link to the old desktop website still which is good.

Alex was incredibly helpful in a previous IIS Classifieds sale, and supportive - if not downright inspirational - in my early attempts at astro outreach.

I hope there are enough hours in the day to sustain the wonderful service I recieved amongst all future customers :). This store, and it's market share of the industry are in great hands. Due to Alex's excellent manner - may it's share, and the industry's size grow!

All the best :)

Thanks Carlton!

Yes, it took longer than I expected, with a few bumps along the way, but the new look Astro Shop (www.astroshop.com.au) is up and running

I'm looking forward to expanding the range of products and brands Astro Shop will offer, along with a few other new features that I hope people will find useful and rewarding in their astro experiences.

Out of stock ?

I assume Coronavirus

mental4astro

If you read the note at the top of each product listing, it says these items are listed as "out of stock" are actually stocked or are special order, but because they require an individual freight quote these items are listed as such because at the moment the site does not have a freight plug-in that can give an on the spot freight quote.

There is also a note at the top of every page in the header that directs people to a note regarding "out of stock" items. Maybe read notes first?

I do realise that this is rather clunky at the moment, but for the time being this allows the site to be up and running while some aspects are sorted out. Not the perfect situation, but better than having no presence at all.

Items that are actually not in stock are not listed.

Alex.

I thought that being Chinese made it was a supply issue, CVirus

mental4astro
04-03-2020, 08:49 AM
There is a supply issue for the whole of the world. The Chinese new year holiday period had been extended, so orders that would have been processed during that period alone are now late, and when you add the backlog of orders from that same period, orders that have come in since, and manufacturing that had stopped and restarted (can be a complex and lengthy situation to shut down and restart factories), plus the restrictions on the movement of people, and everything has got it in the neck.

And yes, it has affected astro supplies too, and not just mounts. What I cannot get a hold of but would normally be listed is not posted on my website. Please remember that what is noted as "out of stock" is only because it requires a separate freight quote. These items are available, and even picked up from in-store (with prior arrangement and without freight charges).

Hi Alex you're best replacing "out of stock" by a "contact us" button linking to the feedback form or people will assume you have nothing available. Out of stock is generaly regarded as not available.

Jeremy and Marc, thank you for your feedback. It spurred me on to find a different solution, which I now have implemented

HMmm, anyone else getting a Wix error about domains when visiting the new URL?

Saturnine

Yep, get the Wix error as well but worked fine the other day. What's happened Alex.

I believe Alex is trying to resolve the 'clunky' issue with using the 'out of stock' label to denote that customers need to contact him to get a freight quote on bulky/heavy items...

Chatting with him the other day he mentioned that Wix were trying to help him with a solution but, messed a few things up...

I suspect he'll be back up online very soon...

We've allowed this discussion to run its course due to the new owner taking over the business.

As such, since the business is now contactable, this thread is closed.
Just a reminder about the TOS rules and vendor discussion in the future.

We don't allow vendors or vendor discussions on IIS except in certain circumstances where Admin will allow it by permission.
