EQ5's in low lattitudes

We have two EQ-5 Equatorial Mounts and have found that the lattitude adjustment won't go below 30 degrees. :shrug:

We want to be able to use these mounts as far north as Darwin (12 degrees S) so how do we modify the mounts?

Is it the lattitude adjustment bolt that gets in the way...?????

If so you could probably cut some off.

My recollection is they dont go far but have a look at what it stopping it and grind it away if possible.My old one did not go past 27 I recall but not real sure there... but Engish equataorial is best suited near the Equator one would think.
