I revisited the area around the cluster NGC 6231. The dark tower can be seen at the bottom of the frame.
NGC6231 is sometimes referred to as the False Comet due to the trail of stars leading back to the Prawn.

Excellent. I am starting to envy your gear...seems the way to go.

Thanks Alex. I think it's the easy way to go to get decent images with moderate effort - still need to go mono for exceptional images, but the extra effort involved might be enough to put me off.

I have been setting up for at least an hour and lucky I labeled the cables as it all seems brand new...And getting in and out of this van is killing me.
Have not even thought what to capture yet.
Maybe just get more Eagle data..

Great field of view with a good frame. Lots of sweeps of Ha and stars. Wonderful.

Thanks Ray. That cluster 6231 with it's starry tail would be a pretty target for a bigger scope using a broadband filter or no filter.

Need that observatory Alex. Being farther north maybe you can get the Sadr region?

Looking great Tony. Impressive and still happy with the Mgen?

Hi Tom, yeah the MGEN is working perfectly. I'll have to update it shortly to add the polar alignment routine to use with a recently acquired Vixen SXD2 mount, which doesn't have its own PA routine.

Oh, a new mount, the AZEQ6 not able to take the weight of your next scope? or just another adventure into equipment?

I must chat to you about the redcat vs 61edph - I have watched several Astrobackyard videos and wonder your thoughts.

Just another adventure into equipment :) The SXD2 is higher quality, weighs less and will serve as a back up mount (assuming it doesn't take over) but the AZ-EQ6 is working perfectly so far.

Redcat vs 61edph is a real toss-up:
- the Redcat has perfect colour correction while the 61edph has a little CA, being a fast fpl53 doublet.
- the Redcat is susceptible to tilt while the 61edph is not. The tilt varies from sample to sample and can be remedied with a tilt adapter at the visual back.
