I can.
I refuse to rent software I need.
If I can't outright buy a copy in full of the program I need, then I refuse to consider using that program, at all.

Ive been using Creative cloud for a while. I think its very good, especially if you have use for multiple applications. Ive tried multiple Lightroom equivalents and certainly for me and my work flow (as a hobbyist) it beats the alternatives. Ive not experienced any bugs/virus' or crashes, but im on the Mac version of the suite.

As to pricing models: subscription is the way of things im afraid. I think there are pros and cons. I certainly would not be paying the $$$$$ to buy each app out right, this way I can use them. With the various offers about and student/teacher pricing the cost is pretty good IMO for what you get.

Again....
I'd recommend at least a trial of the latest PaintShopPro.
Fairly priced, once off purchase and does 99% of what PS does.
Check it out.

Ken, I remember PSP from the DOS days when JASC was writing and releasing it.
I thought it was no longer being developed. Back then, the 2 popular computer art programs were PSP, and the port of Deluxe Paint, from the Amiga.

Jenifur,
Yeah, I grew up on PSP3....
Corel bought it out many years ago (2004) and rebuilt it to handle the "photographers" rather than the "artists".
PSP functionality can be extended by Photoshop-compatible plugins.

For image organizing, I use ACDSee. ACDSee Store (https://www.acdsee.com/en/store/)
For image editing, NeoPaint. NeoSoft have been taken over by VisualNEO, and NeoPaint is now known as PixelNEO (https://visualneo.com/product/pixelneo)

Ditto I find Photoshop/Lightroom too good a program to skimp on the price which isn’t excessive if you use them a lot. I do balk at paying 3 times as much to add Premiere though.

I use GIMP all the time at work. Absolutely free, fully featured and intuitive. Still finding new uses for it.
