We had eighteen telescopes on-site. About 300 people turned up for the viewing. Planetarium dome was up in the hall and solar viewing out front till sunset. David Reneke gave a talk in the hall, a 6" SkyWatcher dob was raffled and won by a local who was totally stoked. Perfect viewing conditions, a little dew by 9:30pm. We also had a T-Rex disrupt the talk in the hall which was hilarious! We'll do it all again next year. :-)

Malcolm,

That is brilliant!

Look at all those scopes that were flushed out from behind closed doors to be shared with the community! Blooming brilliant!

And that the weather cooperated was just icing on the cake

Congrats, mate! :2thumbs:

Alex.

Interesting that in the photo, there doesn't seem to be any beginner scopes.

The 'extended' Corndale community are a most interested and interesting group. There were Lots of questions asked by youngsters and seniors. I was engaged by one couple who led me to suspect they were Undercover Astrophysicists!! Of course they said they weren't - just very interested.

My mate David had his Skywatcher Heritage 5" tabletop there. (Resting on the ground in attached photograph). Once it got dark, he was on Jupiter and Saturn all night when he wasn't talking to the luthier about ukes.

We'll be back next year hopefully.
