If you don't know have a look at this even if you do know this probably brings things up to date.
Any views on what they could be.
My bet is stuff falling into a black hole as that is perhaps the only thing I can think of to provide the energy and have opportunity to occur so often..perhaps too often but remember there are a lot of galaxies etc etc..but 10,000 a year was news to me

Thanks for posting that Alex,very interesting.
I have been following thes FRB's for a while now,
and am hearledly sick of scientist grabbing for the "Aliens hypothosis"
everytime there is something they don't understand or can't explane.
At least the presenter only mentioned Aliens once,but in saying it ruled out the possibility.
Look forqard to more info on these things as the research improves. :)

Yes the Aliens...why that comes up one can only wonder given the energies..unless it's multiple civilizations blowing themselves to bits.

But Ron we need to work out why and what... the energy levels must confine speculation to black hole events I feel.
Anyways let me sleep on it and I will get back to you tomorrow with the answer.
The sheer number got me to sit up and think more about these, prior to this vid I thought they were a rare event.
