Hi,
I am able to acquire an inexpensive 54mm pyrex secondary mirror (Wave Accuracy = 1/10) with a couple of little bits of the silver flaked off. It needs to be resurfaced.
Can anyone recommend a silvering or aluminising service provider(s) in Australia?
Is it worth the trouble when I can buy a new 50mm GSO secondary for $30?
Regards,
Andrew.

I beleive the GSO ones are rated at 1/10th wave so if the 50mm fits I would just buy that.

Wow at $30 for a new one it doesn't seem worth the trouble (that I would have here from Perth) of getting it over to the coaters, getting them to strip it then recoat and sending it back. Perhaps it depends on how close you are to someone who does it. I usually use Francis Lord optics in Sydney but perhaps Astro Optical Supplies still do them (?anyone used them lately?).

I second that!

But often many don't bother and replace them when the time comes. Isaac can also supply good quality secondaries,
