Wellit probably is all wrong but I like it...so far..no doubt when I look at tomorrow I will hate it..but it helps posting as when I see my images the next day they are always more saturated than I remember...anyways spent too much time on it so up it goes..warts and all.
Any comments as to what I am obviously doing wrong but ..and not making excuses I did not have much to work with...actually I think I forgot a final crop to get rid of a problem..and forgot to round up stars but I am tired and going out again now.

Looks good when the screen is reduced to around 50% Alex; as I said,
great job.

I like that, the detail is nice it must make a decent base on which to build.
The centre is sharply defied without washing out the details. I would be happywith it as a starter.

The colour subs were pathetic.
Blue and Red would not take a wipe in star tools as the image basically disappeared.
But I can't manage another all night run. I am taking the eagle at the moment but am wobbly I am so tired.
I am underpowered here and have the Genny to keep everything running and the noise is getting to me.
But cause it's clear I can't stop as a clear night can't be left to go by....
And gear problems you would not believe..I found myself looking at cables and not knowing where they went...it's like archery all you have to do is each step perfect but with so many steps it is easy to stuff up.
I hope when I get the observatory set up things will get easier ... But very happy just to be out there...it's such a wonderful night.
There are ducks on the nearby dam..one landed in the middle of the night and scared the heck out of me ..It sounded like a monster splashing in the dam and that's what I first thought..very confusing but then another landed and I worked it out that it wasn't a Bunyip afterall:D

I echo what Chris said, more data the better the image

Thanks.
Given all the problems I am surprised and happy really...I should have it wired in a couple of months when it is rising at a manageable time.
Thinking about it now I have droped at least 50% of the subs for one reason or another and this object needs more than 30 second at over the top high gain setting.
Need to see scope so not much can improve until another four trees get removed.

I like the dark/moody aspect to it Alex:thumbsup:

I played with it on an edit app on the phone and ended up with this ... In an effort to make more cheerful;)

I like it Alex,
Haven't tried imaging galaxies yet.. well, not strictly true... I tried Hamburger a while ago but, my subs were so bad nothing would save them...
I prefer your original image but, I do love how you try to make them 'more cheerful'...
Cheers

Hi Calton.
Thanks for your comments and sharing your experience with the Hamberger.
I expect that you are better placed than most to capture M31 ...but wait until it is around at a more convenient time...I was impatient but happy to get started..I hope I can have everything set up within the next couple of months to give M31 and M42 a decent go...perfect PA, guiding, distance to sensor perfect, focuser working, set up for darks and flat frames etc etc...folk probably think I am slack but if I didn't work with the various limits in problems with gear and missed parts of processing I would not be doing what I like...which is no more than getting pretty photos for my enjoyment.
I was woken by a search party this morning at 10 am..seems I have not been answering my phone or looking at messages...even honking the horn and shouting did not wake me ...they thought I was dead..but I wasn't..honest.
Please set up have a go at M31 you should mail it better than most.

I’m jealous of you both with your ability to see our closest neighbor. I’d love to be able to image this one. Unless I can find myself a hill with clear views to the Northern horizon and can tolerate the amount of atmosphere I have to look through, I fear this one will allude me.
Great image Alex. I do prefer the softer first one also. I’m assuming you’ve used the dodge tool on your core, could this be tamed down a little to not have such a sharp edge on it ? Such a great object to look at. Well done

Thanks Ryan.
The core was blown out so I select a few of the best and stacked them then layed the main image over and used the rubber tool to let the best core thru and merged the two. The core blows out easily in my short experience with this object.

Good to see you were able to get more data, it's come up well. I sometimes forget just how close Andromeda is. It's a shame that it doesn't get any higher above the horizon for us southerners, because it's such a great one to image. Just my two cents but out of the two options I like the less saturated version better.
